Hot drinks and a lunch in East Rochester
January 13, 2025
I arrived to East Rochester at 10:30 in the morning. It was freezing cold today, so it was good to get a hot latte at Luigis Coffee on Main Street. I brought my laptop with me and I sat at a table next to a couple who were talking business. At the counter, the owner was very nice while she made my latte, asking me about my holidays and all that.
Italian music was playing in the background as I worked on my computer. Every so often a customer would come in for a coffee. After the couple left that were talking business, a young couple came in and sat at a table. I was finishing up with writing a story about The Everson Museum of Art in Syracuse.
I got up and ordered another drink. I got a decaffeinated americano and talked to the owner about my plans for the day. When I said I was going to Leo’s Bakery in East Rochester for lunch, she mentioned that they had good soups.
When I got to Leo’s, the parking lot was almost full and I had a hard time finding a parking spot. The café was full of elderly people as I found a spot in the corner. They had Italian Wedding or chili as their soup choices and I got a chili. I also ordered a harvest salad. The salad was mostly greens with balsamic dressing. I ordered too much chili and it was a little spicy, but overall, lunch was good.
When I lived in East Rochester twenty years ago, they didn’t have any coffee shops in the village and now they have two. I’ve been going to coffee shops for thirty years, so it’s always nice to work on my laptop every now and then at one of these coffeeshops.
