The village of Spencerport is a destination
November 14, 2024
When you think of Spencerport as a destination, you think of Spencerport Canal Days. Every year in the month of July, the village closes down the Main Street for vendors and packs the Fireman’s Grounds with vendors and thousands of people enjoy shopping for unique goods. There’s also live music and a wine tasting and so much more for visitors to do during this two day event. People from all over, look forward to coming to Spencerport Canal Days every summer.
This December, a new event is happening in the village called Spencerport’s Enchanted Village Celebration. On December 8th, from 12PM to 6PM, there will be concessions and performances and a Meet and Greet with Santa and games and crafts and so much more. Hopefully, it should draw people from other towns as it is being promoted quite well by the people behind the event. There are over twenty sponsors for Spencerport’s Enchanted Village Celebration.
Spencerport is definitely a destination in the summertime. During the summer, people like to visit the canal in the village. There are pathways along both sides of the canal that people like to walk and bike and then there are boaters who dock by the canal bridge and visit the town. All year around though, Spencerport has a lot of restaurants for people to enjoy. Right in the central business district, there are eight places for people to get something to eat. For instance, Clutch on the Canal is open until midnight for visitors. There are also shops for people to check out such as J. William Jewelers and Afrikamba Curios. A cool addition to the village is Bloom and Blend Smoothie Shop in Tops Plaza. They opened in September of this year. Of course, there is the Union Street Coffee House too, which makes lattes and coffees. If you’re from another town, it’s always nice to have new places to get a smoothie or a latte.
If you check out our village, you will find that Spencerport is growing too. In the Spring of 2025, it will be four years since they started building on the corner next to Grandpa Sams in downtown Spencerport. It is going to be a three story building with a business on the first floor and apartments on the second and third floor. They still have to finish with the siding on the building and they still need to do work on the inside, but hopefully it should be completed soon.
Spencerport is a suburb of Rochester and only fifteen minutes from the city. Just like all the other suburbs around the city, Spencerport has its own charm and character that people will love when they come to visit.
“Spencerport is a great community. The people are very supportive and welcoming. We are beyond blessed to be a part of it,” Phil Demkos says, the owner of Union Street Coffee House.
