A visit to Schoen Place in Pittsford
April 16, 2024
I’m pretty sure the parking lot next to the Village Coal Tower Restaurant is open to the public. I parked there hoping I don’t get a ticket. Across the street was Aladdin’s Natural Eatery which is where I was going for an early lunch.
I was guessing that the owner was the host that led me to my table. Because it was so early, the only guests in the restaurant were a party of three. An older woman was opening gifts and thanking her two friends and celebrating her eighty-first birthday.
After I ordered the tuna salad, I looked outside at the view which was the Village of Pittsford Erie Canal Park. The canal ran behind the restaurant and the bridge over the canal was very close by to see. It was a nice day for this time of year in April with the temperature at around sixty degrees and there were people walking along the path along the canal.
There was a big scoop of tuna on top of the salad with a lot of alfalfa sprouts on top of the tuna. I finished half of it and then asked the waiter for a box.
“What kind of dressing did you give me?”
“Greek. Was it good?
“I didn’t like it?”
“What kind of dressing do you like?”
“Poppyseed or ranch.”
“Something creamy.”
I left the restaurant and went outside into the sunshine. I walked to the Jembetat Gallery Art and Jewelry shop next store. The guy behind the counter mentioned that the art was from Bali. I didn’t spend much time in there and then returned to my car. I drove a half a block up Schoen Place where Neutral Ground Coffee House was located and parked my car behind the coffeeshop.
“Do you have bottled water?”
“Yes.”
“I’ll have one of those.”
“Is that all?
“Yes.”
I sat next to the window that overlooked the canal. The cafe was a little crowded filled with a mix of people. There were a couple of dogs in there. I walked around the café looking for the password to get on-line and a guy in the back told me what it was. I worked on my laptop for half an hour and then took a walk along the canal. There definitely was a chill in the air but it was still nice after many days of rain and colder weather.
