Starting a new business in Spencerport is common

September 15, 2023

Ever since I started writing about Spencerport businesses in 2021, there have been over thirty new businesses that began in Spencerport. From Ridge Road in Parma to Route 31 in Ogden, new businesses have been popping up all over the place in Spencerport. And it’s not just Spencerport that this is happening. In 2021, there were 5.4 million new business applications filed in the U.S. That was a record breaking amount of business applications that were filed. Despite the pandemic and a bad economy, people still decided to run their own business in huge numbers and it shows in Spencerport. There’s a new deli and a computer repair store and a place where you can buy frisbees and so much more in this suburb of Rochester. Of course, starting a new business has its risks. Your CBD Store and Brothers in Arms Card Shop started in Spencerport during these past few years but have recently had to close down. Other businesses that started are doing well though. Brushed Salon Studio began in March of 2022 and they are still going strong. Located on the second floor of Spencers Landing building near the canal, the owner Sarah Arena says that “my business has been thriving and I am looking forward to continuing to grow my brand in Spencerport.” In 2023 so far, there have been eleven new businesses that started and every business owner has a reason why they wanted to open their own business. “One of the perks when opening my own space was that I would be able to control the environment and offer a safe space to everyone who sits in my chair. I’ve always aspired to own my own salon and I am so grateful to have been given the opportunity in Spencerport,” Sarah said.
